Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a group of neurodevelopmental disorders featuring defects in social communication, language developmental and repetitive behaviors. Although numerous genetic factors are found to be related to ASD, the molecular and circuitry mechanisms remain largely unclear. My work focus on an important autism-related gene MeCP2 and try to understand the ASD by studying the molecular mechanism of MeCP2 regulating gene expression, neural circuits in MeCP2 transgenic mice and establishing the MeCP2-related non-human primate model.
