摘要:

The perirhinal cortex (PRC) lies on the ventral-medial surface of the temporal lobe surrounding the amygdala and hippocampus in primates.  This small brain region receives converging projections from widespread sensory association areas as well as the hippocampal formation. The characteristic anatomical pattern underlies unique functional properties of PRC as a node of declarative information, which locates at a boundary between the medial temporal lobe memory system and sensory association areas.  I will talk about the associative functions of PRC based on its neurophysiological features.  Neurons in PRC represent an item-item association and moreover an inter-domain association such as an integration between item and time, indicating the capabilities beyond item familiarity which has been suggested in a family of “dual-process” models.
